As a professional photographer, the one thing that it’s essential to avoid is being pidgeon-holed as either a portrait photographer or an event photographer. The truth is I shoot whatever my clients require of me and Romans Estate Agents is a client who best illustrates how businesses can use me for a range of photographic purposes.
I am often commissioned to photograph individual corporate portraits with a ‘traditional’ feel to them. These may be used on their website to show the team behind the business. For these I work at their offices and use lighting, a background and shoot head & shoulders shots to give a studio feel to the images.
That said, they also require more informal portraits and not just of individuals but of groups of colleagues together. We’ve had some fun and some challenges producing these images as they are always on location, inside and outside come rain or shine! I use my mobile lighting system for this type of shoot as it gives me the flexibility needed to shoot anywhere. It’s also a job to coordinate large groups of people but that’s part of the fun, as well trying to work as quickly as possible. These are busy people with a job to do, they don’t want to sit waiting around to have their photograph taken. So speed, direction and flexibility all come into play for these kind of shoots. Other portraits have been of clients to be used as publicity for their rentals/sales business or use in their company magazines and local press.
New branch openings that are launched with a party or house open days at new developments. It’s all there to be photographed and Romans, with the variety of work they offer me, is a business I love to work with.
